The equipment listed below is only repaired by employees who have received specialized training from the manufacturer or at an approved training facility. In addition, senior management must approve employees to conduct such repairs, and any such approval is documented in the employee’s personnel files. Types of equipment include the following:

• Ventilators
• Electronic and reciprocal percussors
• Electronic sphygmomanometers
• Concentrators
• Continuous positive airway pressure and bi-level positive airway pressure equipment

Equipment is never modified without specific written approval from the manufacturer.

When needed, all other equipment needing repair is returned to the manufacturer or sent to an authorized repair center/provider. Suppose the equipment is damaged beyond repair or not worth repairing. In that case, the organization safely disposes of the item, observing all rules for equipment disposal from their local county and those provided by the manufacturer.
